LONDON DAY 3

Parka: IQ+ Berlin

Da unser dritter Tag auf ein Samstag fiel, wurde der gesamte Tag rund um die ganzen Flohmärkte geplant, die London so zu bieten hat. Der Portobello Market in Notting Hill war unser erstes Anlaufziel. Als wir das Ziel mit der U-Bahn erreicht hatten, mussten wir nur den großen Menschenmassen folgen und wurden automatisch zum ersehnten Vintage Flohmarkt geführt. Wir waren überwältigt von den ganzen Eindrücken. Mit Jazz-Musik, die von ein paar Straßenmusikern gespielt wurde im Ohr, bewunderten wir nicht nur die Schmuckstücke und Vintageschätze auf den Ständen, sonder auch die einfallsreichen und mutigen Outfits der Londoner Bewohner.

Auf dem Portobello Market werden einfach Trends gesetzt, die uns in Deutschland erst ein paar Jahre später erreichen. Um so mehr hat es uns gefreut als wir prompt inmitten auf dem Portobello Market auf unsere Parka angesprochen wurden und wo es diese den zu kaufen gäbe.

Für eine kleine Stärkung machten wir kurz Halt in dem angenagtesten Cupcake Laden in London „The Hummingbird Bakery“, den man ebenfalls auf der Portobello Road findet. Und ich muss sagen, der Besuch lohnt sich, denn die Cupcakes waren schlicht und ergreifend ein Genuss. Es war somit der perfekte Abschluss für unseren ausgiebigen Shopping-Tag.

Für einen Besuch auf dem Flohmarkt, sei es der Portobello Market, der Camden Market oder mein persönlicher Favorit, der Market auf der Brick Lane, der leider nur Sonntags geöffnet hat, sollte man sich auf jeden Fall einen ganzen Tag Zeit nehmen.

Our third day of our Trip in London was a Saturday, which means, that the entire day was planed all around the best flea markets of London, which we wanted to explorer. Our first stop was the Portobello Market in Notting Hill. As soon as we’ve arrived our destination with the subway, we just had to follow the crowd of people to finally reach the Portobello Road. We’ve been thrilled by all the amazing impressions of this vintage market, we just listened to some beautiful Jazz music of buskers and we started slowly to look around for some unique vintage treasures. We were not only amazed by all the beautiful stuff they were selling, but also by the amazing and individual styles of inhabitants of London.

The people on the portobello market are true trendsetter. You can look for some trends there, which will reach us in Germany up to two years later. Because of that we’ve been even more delighted, when a stranger just asked us in the middle of the portobello street, where he could buy our parkas at.

For a little shopping break we stopped at the most delicious cupcake place in entire London „The Hummingbird Bakery“, which you can also find in the middle of the Portobello Road. And we have to admit it was worth a visit, we’ve never tasted cupcakes, that good in our entire life before. For us it was the perfect ending of a great and successful shopping trip on the flea market.

For a visit on the flea market, no matter if it’s the Portobello Road Market, the Camden Market or my personal favorite of them all the Brick Lane Market, which unfortunately is only opened on Sundays, you should definitely take the time for one whole day for that kind of experience.
