Our trip started with an indescribable hotel in the middle of Playa del Carmen, the Hotel La Semilla. We were thrilled of the beautiful place and we felt like being in a jungle because the hotel has a wonderful courtyard with tropical trees, plants and a small fountain. But this wasn’t the only thing which we loved. The hotel is tastefully decorated and everything fit perfectly, although each chair and each table is unique. So it isn’t a surprise that the Hotel La Semilla is listed at the best design hotels.

I will never forget having breakfast with Henrik in the jungle garden, where we always had something new to discover.

After spending a few days in Playa del Carmen, we drove to Tulum. Our first destination was Hotelito Azul and as we arrived, we weren’t able to say anything because of the beautiful view that we had. But this shouldn’t have been the last time that we are overwhelmed by such a beautiful sight. A hotel directly on a white sandy beach.

As I walked out of our room on the balcony, seeing palm trees and the sea, I was immediately relaxed and just happy to be in such an idyllic place. I have never woken up with the noise of the see and the sound of palm trees in the wind, and so I felt incredibly blessed to be at this place. This is the essence of holiday for me, the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The next and also the last hotel we visited was Tata Tulum. A completely new luxury hotel, which opened its doors in may. We had such a warm welcome with a huge cocktail at the beach. Everyone were super friendly and we immediately realised, that the employees would fulfil every wish, before we even can express it. When we saw our room, we were once again overwhelmed. The incredible view of the sea, the interior and the bathroom. Everything was perfect. After I saw the outdoor rain shower, one thing was clear for me, I didn’t want to leave this place anymore.

Tata Tulum consists six small houses, built one after the other towards the sea. Each cottage has three floors and on each floor is one room. The small path from the room to the beach leads through a lovingly landscaped garden. So you feel like Tarzan or Jane, while going to the beach.

We, as Europeans, can rarely imagine how many beautiful and unique places you can find and discover in Mexico. There are many different sights and a lot of different places, you can pack your holidays with. But we also wanted some time to rest, relax and just enjoy the time together at the beach. Because of that, we decided just to see some selected places.

To see one of the Cenotes was on top of my To-Do list. These are small grottoes with crystal clear water in the middle of the jungle. Everyone who is traveling to Tulum should definitely see one of the Cenotes and experience it. The atmosphere is just magical. I saw so many different animals and colourful fishes which I have never seen before. Our snorkel trip into the Cenotes was one of the highlights of our holidays.

The beach in Tulum is another magical place for me. Pictures can’t really show the atmosphere, it is really indescribable. We sat all day in the bright white sand, had fun in the waves, watched fishes and pelicans and made long walks along the beach.

I also wanted to go to the Maya ruins. They are located at the beach in Tulum. But unfortunately I got sick that day and had to stay in bed. But we will definitely go there next time when we are in Mexico.

If you like spicy food, Mexico is definitely the right travel destination for you. Almost every dish is spicy. In Playa del Carmen there are many restaurants and bars. At the beginning of our holidays, we didn’t really know where to go because the choice of restaurants is huge. One evening, we accidentally landed in a bar called Cayman. It’s located in a small side road directly at the fifth (the main shopping street). In relaxed atmosphere we enjoyed our delicious food and also went there a second time.

Another restaurant in Playa del Carmen, which we can definitely recommend, is the Jas Hijas de la Tostada. It is located straight on the fifth street and they have really tasty seafood and Mexican specialties. I had the tuna tartare which was delicious.

At the beach in Tulum aren’t so many different restaurants. But Henrik and I found a beach club called Taqueria la Euphema. Here we had typical Mexican food right on the beach with good music and drinks. I can really recommend the Mango Margerita and the Shrimp Taco.
