Let’s be honest, coloring your nails is an art itself. However, perfectly painted nails simply belong to a cultivated appearance nowadays. When it comes to grooming, filing and varnishing, it always takes a lot of time, but there are also many tricks which help us for a perfect manicure.

Sonja has always been our secret nail specialist and we can not remember a situation where her nails weren’t perfectly painted. That is why we met on a free Saturday to teach ourselves in nail painting. But we wouldn’t be us, if we didn’t combine this meeting with some yummy donuts and a lot of conversation material during our cozy coffee chat.

And to make sure that paintwork problems, splintered nails and unsightly dents in the paint are from now on a thing of the past, we’ve collected the best tips for you.

1. How do I file my nails correctly? Which form is best for me? If you have longer nails, a little angular form is better. For short or slightly thicker fingers round nails are more suitable.
2. What color suits me? It is actually obvious: the color of the nail polish should match the outfit. If you dress very colorful, we recommend a natural color that matches every outfit. Nevertheless, even nagging nails can be a nice highlight with rather simple clothes. In general, dark tones such as a deep red make the nails appear optically smaller. Therefore they are the most elegant with long nails and narrow hands.
   Lighter tones, on the other hand, stretch smaller nails and make them look more noble.
3. How do I paint the nails according to the nail shape? Wide nails should never be painted completely. It is advisable to leave a narrow edge on the left and right side, which makes the shape of the nail look much more narrow.
   For small nails it is exactly the opposite: paint them completely!
4. Here is a little tip to last the polish a little bit longer: Before you apply the first coat of nail polish, make sure to clean the nails dust and grease with some nail polish remover.
5. This way you can prevent little mistakes: When you paint your nails, sometimes you accidentally paint your skin as well. If you rub the nail edges with some vaseline before, you can correct little mistakes after your manicure super easily.
